Staying the Course

By Chief Judge Kenneth M. Switzer, Nashville

We’re working remotely but still doing our best to provide top-notch customer service in line with the mission statement of the Court of Workers’ Compensation Claims. Just yesterday, Governor Lee announced that state employees who are currently working from home should continue doing so through April 24. So it looks like this is the new normal for at least another month.

We’ve now completed day two of approving settlements telephonically. We’ve had a few glitches, but for the most part, they’ve progressed smoothly. We’re all adapting, and we’re grateful to practitioners, employees and employers for their patience as we work through the new processes.

A note about electronic signatures. Some practitioners are using DocuSign. That’s fine. Just don’t forget to send the order and SD-2 that the judge needs to sign as PDF files. Also, please remember to call promptly at the scheduled time.

Finally, we appreciate the courtesy and optimism you’ve expressed as we work through these unusual times. And click here for a reminder from one of your friendly neighborhood judges and his immediate family, all very talented musically, about one of the ways in which we can all “flatten the curve.”
